A flexible creative studio for content creation, filming, workshops and photography

If you’re looking for a practical, adaptable space to create content, film, teach or run a shoot, the studio is available to hire in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

This is a working creative studio - not a formal meeting room or event venue. It’s the kind of space you can move things around, test ideas, and make your own for the day.

It works best for people who need flexibility rather than a fixed setup.

Our flexible photography studio in Berwick-upon-Tweed is available to hire for photo shoots, content creation, filming, podcasts and small creative workshops.

What It’s Most Often Used For

The studio is primarily used for creative work, including:

  • Podcast recording

  • Content creation days

  • Photography shoots

  • Filming interviews or online courses

  • Makeup artists, hair stylists and model shoots

  • Small creative workshops

What the Studio is Like

The space is roughly 6m x 5m and is designed to be simple, usable and easy to adapt depending on what you need.

  • A mix of tables, chairs and a sofa

  • Small kitchen area with tea & coffee

  • Private toilet

  • A calm, practical environment you can rearrange to suit your setup

It’s not overly styled or precious - and that’s intentional. You’re free to use it in a way that works for you.

Can It Be Used for Meetings or Training?

Yes - and people do.

The studio can work well for small, informal meetings, training sessions or workshops, particularly for creative or small business use.

Just bear in mind:

  • It’s a studio environment rather than a formal meeting room

  • Seating is currently a mix of chairs and a sofa and 2 X 6ft trestle tables

  • It suits relaxed, practical sessions rather than corporate-style setups

If that sounds like what you need, it usually works really well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Recent Studio Hire: LAB/OR8 Podcast

We’ve recently had local podcast LAB/OR8 using the studio to record some of their latest episodes.

They’ve brought in their own podcast equipment, guests and crew, and have made use of the sofas, chairs, tables and other props around the studio to create a relaxed setup that works for their style of recording.

It’s a good example of how flexible the space can be. The studio doesn’t have one fixed layout, so it can be adapted depending on what you’re making - whether that’s a podcast, interview, content day, online course, photo shoot or small creative project.

If you’re curious to see how the studio can look when it’s set up for podcast recording, you can watch LAB/OR8 here:

They are a new and emerging local podcast, and it’s been lovely to see the space being used in a way that supports creative work happening here in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Sound and Quiet Bookings

The studio is based within a working building, with other businesses operating nearby and shared facilities such as the kitchen and toilet.

For most creative work, this isn’t an issue at all. However, if you’re recording audio, filming interviews, creating a podcast, or doing anything where silence is important, it’s worth thinking carefully about the best time to book.

If you need the studio to be as quiet as possible, I recommend booking at the weekend where available. This is when the other businesses in the building are less likely to be operating, which gives you the best chance of having the quietest conditions for recording or filming.

The studio is still a practical, shared-building environment rather than a soundproof recording studio, but weekend bookings usually work best for projects where background noise needs to be kept to a minimum.

A Note on the Space

If you’re looking for a fully hosted venue or a space for a larger group, places like The Strawyard, Berwick Workspace, the William Elder Building or Berwick Parish Centre may be a better fit.

If you want a flexible, private and creative space where you can set things up your own way, the studio tends to work really well.
