What is an Expressions Session?
This contact sheet was found in my grandmothers possessions. I was mesmerised by it!
The print shows my mum as a 7 month old, blond, curly, inquisitive, cute and bossy little baby girl who had just learnt to sit up. My grandmother’s hand accidentally reaching in on a few of the shots to wipe away the dribbles or change the favourite toy is what makes it such a special little collection.
Everything had been left in; the outtakes and wobbles add to the charm and story of the photography session. In fact, some of the expressions and funny little looks show a glimpse of my mothers personality now!
I loved looking at this contact sheet so much that I have used the idea to create a studio product for Pictorial Photography called ‘Expressions’.

What Does An Expressions Session Include?
30 minute mid-week studio shoot at our studio in Berwick Ramparts Business Park (with free parking outside)
In-person ordering session where you can choose your favourite expressions for your wall
A 16"x12" expressions print of your child as shown (usually 30 pictures on the print)
What Age Does My Child Need To Be?
Your baby needs to be able to sit unsupported in a high chair (usually around 6 months - 2 years old). Expression mini sessions are not suitable for babies who cannot sit unaided!

The session fee doesn’t include digital images, or frames. You can upgrade your print to a framed print and order any extra items if you wish at your ordering appointment.

Not at all, it’s completely up to you - but your kids will love seeing you (even if it is just your hand reaching in) in the photos with them as they grow older.

You will need to bring babies favourite toys, any heirloom toys you would like to include, a bib, and a change of top.

After your session, we’ll book an ordering appointment (usually 1–2 weeks later) where you’ll view the portraits. Once you’ve chosen your favorites, product orders typically take around 28 days to be fulfilled.

The photographs are all taken in a vintage high chair so the resulting photograph looks best on display in your kitchen or dining room.
